Sale Marasino is situated on the east shore of the Lake Iseo between the communes Sulzano and Marone. If you drive from Sulzano to Sale Marsino, you can admire numerous mansions and ancient buildings like the Palazzo Turla, the Palazzo Zirotti, the Casa Antonioli in Conche, the Palazzo Mazzocchelli and the mansion Villa Martinengo. The beautiful facades of the buildings illustrate that Sale Marasino was a very rich city during the Middle Ages.
Opposite to the ferry landing, where ferries operate to Carzano on the island Monte Isola, you can find the monumental church San Zenone. It was built from 1734 to 1753 by G.B. Caniana from Bergamo based on the cathedral of Brescia and is one of the most beautiful churches of the Iseo Lake area. The beautiful and large stairs with a marble balustrade were designed by C. Melchiotti in neoclassical style and finished 1870. Inside are numerous frescos, elaborate wooden statues and a very unique apse. The famous frescos in baroque style by Zanardi are especially worth mentioning as well as the large altarpiece with a magnificent frame holding a painting of Madonna with child from the 18th century. As well, you will find works from Casali, Di Giugni and Zanorche.
