Riva di Solto is on the western side of the Iseo Lake and has approx. 1’100 inhabitants. In a document it was first mentioned 1055 A.D. It is located at the bottom of the mountain Solto and as there is sun all day long, the area is ideal to cultivate olives and wine. Zorzino , the upper part of Riva di Solto is as well called “little San Remo”. From here you can see three quarters of the Iseo Lake and its three islands. Above Riva di Solto there is the commune Solto Collina, which offers even better views of the lake. If you follow the street you arrive in Fonteno.
Riva di Solto has a beautiful historical center and many inviting bistros, cafes and restaurants. The parish church, built 1055 A.D. and extended between 1729 and 1880, offers amazing frescoes from the 15th century and paintings from the 17th and 18th century. The pipe organ was renewed in 1860. The little church from Gargarino, which was built between the 11th and 12th century, is the oldest church of the whole area. Inside there are amazing frescoes from the 13th century.
For culinary delights we recommend the very good and inexpensive Ristorante Miranda. It is located in the romantic district Zorzino and while eating you can enjoy a fantastic view over the lake. Via Cornello 8; Tel: +39 035986021.
Riva di Solto has a good Campo Sportivo with a bowling green, tennis and basketball court and a football and volleyball field. A bar and a pizzeria are close by in case you are hungry before or after sports or while waiting for the sports enthusiasts.
